My Production team created a storyboard to follow when filming. We added diagrams of how the shot will look and annotated it (saying what type of shot it would be, what would happen in the clip and any dialogue included). Our first storyboard was a bit too adventurous, as we'd never created a film before. We decded to simplify the storyline so we can just focus on the type of shots needed: Over the shoulder shot, 180 degree rule and match on action.
We wanted a starting shot of Becka walking down the hall to a door. This would be an oppertunity to show match on action when she reaches the door (make sure the timing is realistic) and also to create Mice-en-scene and show that the girl is in an empty setting. This was dificult because we were filming in a school corridor, where there was noise and occasional people walking past.
Our next shot was her hand on the door, she twists it and opens it, then the shot changes to inside the room where she walks in (another oppertunity for match on action).
We also filmed some dialogue to show 180 degree and over the shoulder.
It was a chalange to maintain the rules and make sure our editing was seamless. In this task we learnt how to use technology such as the film camera, tripod and an editing studio (iMovie). However, this was our first task and our film lacked a sense of continuity and an effective storyline. We decided to treat this task as a basis for learning how to use the technology and for practice of the different techniques.
