The first bit of technology we had to use was a DV Digital Camera. We used this for all of the filming for the preliminary task and was a good starter to learning how to use the professional camera for our main task. At the start none of us were too sure how to use it but by the end all of us have learnt the techniques on how to use it and will be very confident in the future if we have to use it again.
We also used a (name of camera). This was a professional camera borrowed from the BBC. This was considerably harder to use than a handheld camera but we were soon comfortable with using it. With this camera came two different lenses, one normal and one for close up shots - we used this one for filming Joel as it created a clear and close picture. We liked using this camera as it produced pictures with a very narrow depth of field and we thought our target audience would enjoy the quality and beauty of picture.

For this camera, we had to learn how to use a tripod for steady shots. This also came in useful when we were filming the shots of Lucy in the field - we were able to keep the camera in the same place for long periods of time while we filmed Lucy in different positions. This was so we could use small cuts of these shots and put them close to each other without it looking like the camera had changed positions. Without a tripod, the majority of our shots would have been poor and amateurish because they would not have been straight enough, then shaky if the camera moved. Like with the cameras, our skills improved with time as we learnt how to tilt the tripod and put it at different heights.

We used a still camera to take pictures of locations, props and characters, also to show us working so we could post it on our blogs and let the examiner know about our working environment. At the start of the course we all knew how to work a camera basic but now we have learnt a few new tips/techniques.
We also had to use our camera phones to take pictures and videos to show us working, then we sent them to the computer and posted it on our blogs.

Using the Apple Mac computers allowed us to improve our thiller and make it more effective. However, it was very hard to grasp the concept of how it worked. It isn't that much different to a normal computer however it has some major differences. For example the mouse has no left and right click, only one, so we found it difficult to give instructions like copy and paste. But, like other technologies, our knowledge of the Macs improved and so did our skills in using them.

We edited our film using this application, iMovie. It is very detailed and can be a little confusing to use but after a while it becomes easier to use, and is definitely the best application for editing.
However, we found it difficult to cut some of our music to size and separate the sound on the clips, But we overcame this by learning how to drag a clip over to the place you want the sound and choose the option 'just add sound'.

Throughout the coursework we used Youtube on a countless number of occasions, this was mainly to see past students work and other thrillers to get tips on how to make our film the best we could. We also needed it to upload our own videos so we could then put them on our blog.

Server monkey allowed us to have an audience feedback for our movie. This was useful as it gave us an idea for what we could improve on but also our target audience, though this was biast as we posted our survey onto facebook where only our friends could see it, this means that the people who watched it would mostly be our age (14-18).

Prezi is a great new way for presenting research and Ideas. We enjoyed using this and it was easy and simple to pick up. These prezis could be easily embedded into our blogs.

We used Weebly's site to record what we had been doing whilst on the course which lets the examiner knows what we’ve been doing and how we’ve been doing it. Anybody in the world can access my blog, as long as they have internet access.
Skills I have learnt:
I believe I have gained many skills throughout my time so far in media and the duration of my coursework. Including how to use mac computers, different cameras and programmes such as iMovie. Furthermore, I have discovered how to present my work and research in different ways such as prezis, serveys, powerpoints and photographs. Finally, I believe I have developed my teamwork skills throughout this project and have learnt how to compromise in order to achieve the best outcome for our product.
